TOPIC 4: NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS
First of all, in this
unit, I have learned gestural communication is defined as the procedure of
utilizing messages that are nonwords to bring forth significance. Besides the
definition of gestural communication, we besides know that gestural
communication is classified into four different types.
Personal gestural communicating
( the usage of gestural actions in a manner that is personal or alone to that
individual. ) cultural gestural communicating ( characteristic of a group of
people.) cosmopolitan gestural communicating ( the behavior that is common to
humankind. Often shows happiness, unhappiness or deep-rooted feeling) and
unrelated gestural communicating ( is unrelated to the verbal message. ).
Besides that. I have learned types of gestural communication are related in six
ways: repeat ( the same message is sent verbally and non-verbally ) accent ( it
is used to beef up the message ). complementation ( add intending to each
other and spread out on either message entirely ). contradiction ( when verbal
and gestural struggle ). permutation ( when you use no verbal at all ) . and
ordinance ( used to supervise and command interactions with others ).
My use of non verbal communication was effective as I greeted my client with a positive hand shake and a smile to ensure security when entering the room. I feel I succeeded in my active listening skills as I demonstrated my listening through non verbal eye contact and nodding. I paraphrased my client’s statements effectively to demonstrate my understanding of her issue. However, I feel I needed to decrease the amount of times I stroked my hair and used negative expressions to ensure my security and confidence towards my client. I also needed to be aware of how I asked my open ended questions by excluding questions.
As an affair of fact when I open my laptop and look into the press release. I find that is one inquiry that I don’t understand in the press release that the lector gives us to reply to. it is said frequently that “Actions speak louder than words”. When I saw this inquiry I started believing and seeking this parlance and what it intended. After I have been seeking this parlance I found the definition of it they said that in add-on to difficult transcript, electronic, and unwritten communicating formats management actions strongly communicate what is of import to the organization. I think it wants to state that it is more effective to move straight than to talk of actions.
I would wish to reflect on my thought that survey gestural communication is really important giving me to
cognize how to utilize gestural codifications right and increase my cognition
of gestural communication which is better for my ability to pass on the information
and to carry others. This is also will assist me to reinforce my verbal messages.
The greater your gestural accomplishments. the more successful you’re likely to
be at informing every bit good as act upcoming others. It will enable me to do
a more effectual self-presentation. Consider. for illustration that when I meet a person for the first time at least in face-to-face meetings. I signified the feelings of the individual mostly on the footing of his or her gestural
messages. Lastly, being able to understand and pull off my gestural
messages will enable me to show myself in the manner I want to be perceived.
